British Junior Cardiologists Association (BJCA)

Who we are?

The BJCA exists to facilitate and support training of all UK cardiology trainees.

We are made up of trainee members throughout the UK, and communication with over 1400 members is coordinated by local deanery representatives and a central council. We have official representation on the councils of all the subspeciality professional bodies and we represent your views on the national Cardiology Speciality Advisory Committee (SAC) and other groups that organise our training.

Contact forms

We have a contact form on the site. If you choose to message us, the contact form is emailed to our ticketing system. Furthermore, the message you send is stored in this ticketing system for 24 months at which point it is purged from our servers. No further correspondence is stored beyond your original message.

Membership Details

We use a membership plugin on our site for when a member signs up to our site, this stores your information in the secure database on our site. The data is accessible to our team at BJCA and our Website developer.

Woocommerce is used on this site, please do read the Automattic Privacy Policy if you wish to understand what data they retain. This plugin is used to process the delivery and ordering of our products. It retains order information.

Twitter

https://bjca.tv/ currently has a Twitter profile https://twitter.com/thebjca, which British Junior Cardiologists Association have access to.  Any data Twitter collects is stored on a remote secure server, it is a public profile so anyone can view the posts, however only we can see the data Twitter has collected. Twitter is a social media network website.

Mailchimp

We use MailChimp for our marketing, you can unsubscribe if you have subscribed by logging into their site. There is also an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every mailing we have sent out from their site.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

GoDaddy and Tangled Web

We host our site with GoDaddy who do a weekly backup which is kept for 30 days until replaced with a new back up. Please do read the GoDaddy Pricy policy for further information on their data retention.

Our second set of backups are taken every 6 hours and retained for 2 weeks by our Web Agency Tangled Web Ltd all the backups are encrypted and stored on UK servers.
